I Got It Wrong

I thought this was the beginning of our

happy song.

I brought grapes for us to share

and envisaged us feeding each other them.

Instead your words hung heavily in

the air.

Instantly snuffling out our love.

Dismantling the rope bridge connecting

our two souls.

Leaving me feeling lost, numb &

forlorn.

Later I drank champagne with

friends in the park.

But nature couldn’t heal my

broken heart or let the light

luminate my dark.
