False hope

Is what you emit

coated in sugar,

A short term hit

of hope

That soon deflates

When I reach for you in my empty bed.

You think about me often

I enjoy our verbal trysts

But I am becoming weary of their

repetitive rhythm.

The music has started

I want to dance

I see you across the dance floor

Glued to your chair

Unable or unwilling to move

Surrounding us in a false hope of despair.
